All-New Running Event Coming to Myrtle Beach Area This November
Staff Report From South Carolina CEO
Friday, August 3rd, 2018
The Grand Strand is known in the world of running to offer flat courses that help elevate both speed and endurance. This November, runners will have yet one more Myrtle Beach area course for setting their “personal record” — and have a little fun while at it. The inaugural “Myrtle Mile Race,” presented by MyrtleBeach.com and Festival Promotions, will be held Saturday, November 3, in downtown Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, with races starting at 6 p.m.
The 1-mile Myrtle Mile course will run from 24th Avenue North to 9th Avenue North along the scenic and iconic Ocean Boulevard in downtown Myrtle Beach. Runners, walkers and even pets will have a blast experiencing the course while taking in the Ocean Boulevard sights, including views of popular attractions like the Myrtle Beach SkyWheel, the Gay Dolphin Gift Cove and the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk.
“Myrtle Beach is a tremendous running destination,” said Mike Shank, Myrtle Mile race coordinator. “Between the beautiful views and the flat terrain, we wanted to create a fast race that nearly everyone would be able to participate in and leave an everlasting experience the whole family can enjoy.”
A family-friendly mini-festival will be held after the race at the former Pavilion site on 9th Avenue North in downtown Myrtle Beach. Participants will celebrate with a fun-filled festival, including live music, food trucks, vendors and beer (for those over 21).
Races include:
