S.C. Chamber Appoints Michelin’s Mike Williams to Coordinating Council for Workforce Development

The South Carolina Chamber of Commerce announced Mike Williams, Facility Personnel Manager at Michelin North America as its appointee to the Coordinating Council for Workforce Development. With the passage of H.4145this session, the state’s first workforce coordinating council was created. Bringing together all of the state agencies that
play a role in workforce development, the Council will plan and develop strategies to address businesses workforce needs. The South Carolina Chamber was given the role of appointing the business community’s representative to the council.
Mr. Williams currently serves as the Facility Personnel Manager for Michelin North America’s passenger car and light truck manufacturing facility in Lexington, SC. A native of Jackson, Mississippi, Mr. Williams received his B.S. degree in Operations Research from the United States Military Academy at West Point and has a passion for mentoring, serving his community and helping others to achieve their full potential.
S.C. Chamber CEO Ted Pitts said, “Michelin has been an important part of the business community in South Carolina for decades, with its North American Headquarters located in the Upstate and production facilities all around the state. Through programs like the Michelin Scholars program, Michelin has long been a leader on the workforce development front. When we were looking to fill this seat we felt it was important to appoint someone that is on the frontlines of hiring South Carolinians to do today’s jobs and understands today’s workforce challenges firsthand. We are happy Mike has agreed to serve and he will be a valuable asset to the Coordinating Council for Workforce Development.”
