McLeod Regional Medical Center has received a Safety Score of A from the Leapfrog Group. Only 855 hospitals in the nation received an A, ranking McLeod among the safest hospitals in the United States.
The Leapfrog Group Hospital Safety Score Program grades hospitals on their overall performance in keeping patients safe from preventable harm and medical errors. The Leapfrog Group’s goal of saving lives and reducing harm focuses on measuring and publicly reporting hospital performance through the Annual Hospital Safety Score. Developed under the guidance of a National Expert Panel, the grades are derived from expert analysis of publicly available data using 28 evidence-based, national measures of hospital safety. Leapfrog then assigns an A, B, C, D or F grade to more than 2,600 hospitals across the country based on how safe they are for patients.
