State Grand Jury Issues Superseding Indictment Alleging Public Corruption by Daniel Johnson and Nicole Holland

South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson announced that the South Carolina State Grand Jury has again issued a superseding indictment related to allegations of corruption at the Fifth Circuit Solicitor’s Office.
On February 21, 2019, the State Grand Jury issued a superseding indictment against former Fifth Circuit Solicitor Daniel Edward Johnson. He had been previously indicted in September 2018 for Misconduct in Office and Embezzlement of Public Funds, and the superseding State Grand Jury indictment expanded those charges and also added a charge against Daniel Edward Johnson for Obtaining Property by False Pretenses.
Nicole H. Holland had been charged in the September 2018 indictment with Embezzlement of Public Funds. In the superseding indictment, that charge was expanded, and Nicole H. Holland was also charged with Forgery and Perjury.
The case will be prosecuted by Senior Assistant Attorney General Josh Underwood and Assistant Attorney General LaRone Washington with the State Grand Jury Section of the South Carolina Office of the Attorney General.
